Our Mission & Additional Information

Philosophy and Objectives

  • We strive to provide a high-quality, age-appropriate education to the whole child in a Christian environment.
  • We believe that a concrete, hands-on, active approach to learning in all areas is critical. The school environment must be safe, nurturing and caring; where children are challenged but secure. We believe that close work with families, with a high level of parent involvement, enriches and enhances each child’s development.

Spiritual Standards

  • Lake Magdalene United Methodist Church Early Childhood Center is an outreach of the church, serving both church and community members. Our school is non-denominational, but we do stress Christian moral and spiritual values to help the children grow in their knowledge of God and His love for all people. Stories of Jesus and His teachings and Bible stories will be read to the children.
  • Members of the church staff or teaching staff will present an age-appropriate devotional program in the chapel each week where children are taught reverence in God’s house along with Christian morals, stories and songs. Church doctrine is not taught as a part of our curriculum.
  • The school admits students of any race, color, or national or ethnic origin.  It does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national and ethnic origin in administration of its educational policies, admissions policies, scholarship, and other school-administered programs.  The school reserves the right to dismiss any student/family who does not respect its spiritual standards or cooperate in the educational process. Any religious training or information will be Christian exclusively.

  • The Center usually observes all Hillsborough County public school holidays. Final dates will be available in September.

Snacks and Lunches

  • We provide a mid-morning snack of apple juice with cookies or crackers. If your child is staying for lunch, please pack a complete nutritional lunch with a beverage. When a child brings a lunchbox to school, his teacher will send him to Child Care for lunch.

  • Drop-off time for children enrolled in our Kindergarten, PreK-4 and PreK-3 classes is 8:30 a.m. – 8:50 a.m. There will be Safety Volunteers at each door during this drop-off time to help your child from your car and escort him/her to the door and/or classroom.
  • Child Care opens at 8:15 a.m. Any child who is dropped off before 8:30 a.m. will be sent to Child Care and a flat rate fee is charged. If you arrive sometime after 8:50 a.m., and there is no Safety Volunteer outside, please park your car and walk your child to the preschool office to sign in for the day.
  • All children (ages 1-3 who are not in PreK-3) must be walked into the Center and signed-in to Child Care.

Whenever you walk your child to or from class, please be sure to hold hands and beware of the car traffic.

Pick-up time for PreK-3 and PreK-4 is 12:00-12:15 p.m. Pick-up time for Kindergarten and PreK-4 children participating in our Enrichment program is 2:00 p.m.
